Help Families Capture the Stories While the Window Is Still Open.

The Living Legacy Project partners with hospice and palliative care organizations to offer guided life-story sessions for patients and their families. A profound, lasting gift during one of life's most meaningful passages.

A guided story session with a hospice patient

Families in hospice are thinking about stories. Most never find a way to capture them.

When a family enters the hospice journey, the awareness of time becomes acute. Families often express a desire to record stories and ask the questions they've put off for years, but they don't know how, and the emotional weight makes it hard to start.

Your social workers and chaplains hear this. A structured, gentle path to capture those stories is something families will be grateful for, both during care and for the rest of their lives after.

The window is uniquely urgent. In hospice, time has a different quality. A story-gathering session now means a recording that exists forever.
Families can't do it themselves. Being a caregiver and an interviewer simultaneously is emotionally demanding. A trained outside guide changes that dynamic entirely.
Legacy work is already part of your care philosophy. Life review and dignity therapy are widely used in hospice. Story sessions complement and deepen that work.

Gentle. Unhurried. Patient-Led.

We adapt entirely to the patient's pace, energy, and preferences. No session ever feels like an obligation, and if a patient isn't up for a session on a given day, we reschedule without hesitation.

Sessions Adapted to Patient Condition

Our guides work with patients across a wide range of conditions and energy levels. Sessions can be shortened, paused, or adapted in real time. The patient always leads.

Dignity-Centered Interviewing

Story sessions in hospice are among the most meaningful we conduct. Our guides bring warmth, patience, and deep respect for the weight of the moment, for both patient and family.

Private Family Archive

Every session goes into a private, password-protected family archive they keep permanently. After care ends, the archive stays. Legacy products can be ordered at any time with no deadline.

Revenue Share for Your Organization

Your organization receives a revenue share for each family that enrolls through your referral link. We handle all billing and tracking, and you receive your portion automatically.

Complements Social Work & Chaplaincy

Life review is already embedded in quality hospice care. Story sessions are a natural extension that creates a permanent record families can return to for the rest of their lives.

Full Consent Protocol

Written consent from patient and family before any session begins. We work closely with your clinical team to ensure alignment with care goals and patient wellbeing.

How the Hospice Partnership Works

1

Partnership Introduction Call

A 20-minute call with your director of patient services, social work lead, or chaplaincy team. We walk through our approach in hospice settings, consent protocol, and the partnership structure.

2

Partnership Agreement

A two-page agreement covering referral revenue share, session protocols, consent requirements, and how we interface with your care team. No exclusivity required.

3

Your Team Introduces the Program

We provide simple talking points your social workers, chaplains, or care coordinators can use when introducing the program to families. We can also attend a staff orientation session if that's helpful.

4

Families Enroll. We Handle Coordination.

Interested families sign up through your referral link. We contact them directly, confirm the patient's situation and preferences, and coordinate sessions with your care team's scheduling.

5

Stories Captured. Archive Built. Revenue Earned.

Sessions are added to the family's private archive. Your organization receives a revenue share for each enrolled family, automatically tracked and paid directly to you.

Hospice Partnership FAQs

That's completely fine. If someone can do 10 or 20 minutes, we work within that. We go at their pace, in their comfort, on their schedule. What we do need is for the storyteller to be able to speak and recall their own life stories. That's the foundation of what we do. If that becomes no longer possible, we'll let the family and your team know, and anyone can cancel at that point. There's no pressure to continue if story gathering isn't viable.
Unfortunately, our service wouldn't be the right fit. We conduct audio interviews. The storyteller's own voice is the whole point. We can't gather stories on someone's behalf or work around non-verbal communication. Before the first session, we confirm with the family and your team that the storyteller is able to participate. If that changes over time, cancellation is always an option with no penalty.
We require agreement from the family and your organization before moving forward with any storyteller. We confirm this alignment during onboarding and won't begin sessions without it. Consent is revisited if a storyteller's condition changes significantly.
No. We schedule around the storyteller's day and your care team's routine. If someone isn't up for a session when we arrive, we leave and reschedule. No charge, no fuss. We follow their lead entirely.
Yes, always. We come to wherever the storyteller is comfortable: an inpatient facility, their home, or anywhere else they receive care. We conduct audio interviews in person. We do not offer video sessions.
The family retains access to their audio archive for at least three years after story gathering is complete. We encourage families to download their recordings during that time and use them to create a memorial video, book, or keepsake. We'll remind them well before any archival period ends.
None. The program is free for your organization. You earn a revenue share for each family enrolled through your referral link, with no minimum or financial obligation on your end.
